JCon shirt -- Reborn!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Ippo_mQ
Hiya JCon!

I didn't like how my old JCon shirt (the misspelled one) looked on me, so I changed it.

Take a look! )

It made me happy, I dunno. I have a whole book on how to modify tshirts into ... other shirts, so if anyone wants to change up their JCon shirt, or any other shirt, let me know and I'll send you instructions. ^^

In other words, I'm bored, and I'm entertaining myself by posting to the JCon LJ. Don't look at me like that.

Summer Showings

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
gendo
Last year, summer showings were in Morton 127/115 (where Saturday showings are held) on Friday evenings at 6PM. They usually ran until 9-10PM. The format is: bring whatever you want to show, and we draw straws- you get 3 episodes/ 1 hour of programming as your "turn," and then we move on to the next drawn person. Summer programming isn't really governed by club rules (you could re-watch Baccano! again, even though we just watched it. Maybe even hentai...). Molly and I will be happy to "run" the showings, but mid-July to mid-August we will not be able to. Since showings aren't really official, anyone can have one if they show up.

If this setup meets with your approval, see you this Friday. Otherwise, speak up now.

EDIT: Showings will be in Morton 115

Japanese cars! You can't get anything better.

Hey guys, remember that Friday night background I made that said Honda makes the best cars, hands-down?

Well now I've got serious proof.

TAKANEZAWA, Japan — It looks like an ordinary family sedan, costs more to build than a Ferrari and may have just moved the world one step closer to a future free of petroleum. On Monday, Honda Motor celebrated the start of production of its FCX Clarity, the world’s first hydrogen-powered fuel-cell vehicle intended for mass production.

You can read the whole story here.

I thought that was really cool. Made me want to go to Japan and test-drive one on their ridiculously narrow streets. Anybody with me?

Pre-Summer Showing: BACCANO! oav.

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
gendo
Hey, it seems that there are 3 Baccano! oav episodes that didn't really exist when we voted in the series. I imagine most JCON members are still in town for some of this week, so I will bring them in and we can have a short showing early this week.

I'm thinking tomorrow (Tuesday) night at 7:30-ish. The room number isn't really something I can say ahead of time- I plan on just finding an empty one on the first floor of Morton. If you really want to go and have a big problem with tomorrow night, reply.

Since I'm not doing culture notes now that school's out ...

... I thought I'd share a headline that popped up on my iGoogle this afternoon.

TOKYO, Japan (AP) -- A man police said was on a murder mission plowed into pedestrians with a truck in a crowded Tokyo neighborhood Sunday and then stabbed 17 people in three minutes, killing at least seven in a grisly attack that shocked Japan.

The lunchtime assault -- on the seventh anniversary of a mass stabbing in Japan in 2001 -- sent thousands of pedestrians into a panic in Tokyo's crowded Akihabara district, an electronics and video game area wildly popular among the country's cyber-wise youth.

The rest of the article can be found here. Didn't see anything like this in Densha, goodness. Also, if you're like me and didn't know anything about the "mass stabbing in Japan in 2001," you can read about it here. Be warned; it's much more upsetting than the article about the stabbing today.

Cheers!

How to get to the TASTIES! (Akai Hana driving instructions)

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Ippo_mQ
Kyle you are my love! Here are the instructions on how to get to Akai Hana:

Take 33 W to 70 W to 71 N.

Take the North Broadway exit. At the light, turn left.

Continue straight on North Broadway for a few blocks; exit to the right onto 315 N.

Follow 315 for only about 3/4 of a mile; exit to the right onto Henderson Rd.

At the light, make a left turn ... and here I fail you because I can never remember if you want to be in the right or left lane when you turn. I think it's the left lane, but I could be wrong.

You want to exit to the left on Kenny when you see it, just a few blocks down that road, which I think is Olentangy River Rd.

Akai Hana is in the Kenny Center, for which you'll see signs after you exit. It will be on the right.

If any of this is wrong, I apologize! I'll edit it with corrections, if it turns out to be incorrect.

Tomorrow. One o'clock pm. College green.

Hard Gay's gonna pay Brother Micah a little visit.

Anybody want to come cheer him on? :D

[EDIT]: If it's raining, I won't go. Don't need to be breaking more bones by slipping in those ridiculous boots. The weather looks like it'll clear up tomorrow; if I'm not there today, I'll be there Friday. :D

I lied, the rain's never going to stop. So I'll be there today, rain or no rain. Unless shitbrick Brother Micah and his goonies aren't there, in which case, what's the point?

AKAI HANA (Restaurant Japan) TRIP

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Howdy JCON,
I know we all have been wondering when the next trip to Restaurant Japan would be, well here I'm going to tell you. I have decided to take on the roll of planning this trip since Molly after many years and much patience has finally decided she isn't going to plan them anymore. So first off I would like to thank her for all the hard she has put forth till this point. Now down to business I have two potential dates for a trip up to Restaurant Japan and will chose the one that has the most participants. Those dates are Saturday MAy 24 and Saturday May 31. What I need you guys to do is post with which date and/or dates you can go and whether or not you can be a driver. We do need drivers, especially since I can't even drive myself up. Kyle

Sat. 24:
Since nobody wants to go on the 24th looks like it will be the 31st
Sat 31: If anyone else wants to go I have more drivers, so feel free to sign up.

The best of the best

Musepile! XD
Hey JCon!

I'm working on something and would like your help, please. Post in this thread with TWO ITEMS that you see as being the very best things about JCon. It can be anything, from concrete to abstract, specific to general. Just make sure it's something that you could point to and say, "My anime club is awesome because_______________."

And again, list two please. No more, no less. If you want to tell me things that didn't make the top two, that's fine, but do tell me which two are top, please.

Thanks!

~mQ

EDIT: Apparently, screening stuff really throws JCon for a loop. I've unscreened all the comments, y'all can calm down now. XD
